We have minimised bias and ensured reliable findings by employing a systematic literature review and the PRISMA statement. Our comprehensive synthesis of the studies included in this research, along with a bibliometric analysis of articles, journals, indexes, authors' affiliations, citations, keyword co-occurrences, and co-authorship analysis, has produced robust results. The discussion of our findings focuses on critical areas of interest, such as AI and Talent, AI Bias, Ethics and Law, and their impact on Human Resource (HR) management. Our research highlights the recognition by organisations of the importance of talent management in achieving a competitive advantage as higher-level skills become increasingly necessary. Although some HR managers have adopted AI technology for talent acquisition, our study reveals that there is still room for improvement. Our study is in line with previous research that acknowledges the potential for AI to revolutionise HR management and the future of work. Our findings emphasise the need for HR managers to be proactive in embracing technology and bridging the technological, human, societal, and governmental gaps. Our study contributes to the growing body of AI and HR management knowledge, providing essential insights and recommendations for future research. The importance of our study lies in its focus on the role of HR in promoting the benefits of AI-based applications, thereby creating a larger body of knowledge from an organisational perspective.publishersversionpublishe

A promising and low-cost prototype to evaluate the motor pattern of nutritive and non-nutritive suction in newborns

Introduction: Non-nutritive sucking (NNS) plays an important role in stabilizing the preterm, providing oral muscle training opportunity for nutritive sucking (NS). We aim to determine if the prototype tested allows a precise evaluation of suction pattern characteristics (rhythmic structure and pressure). We also aim to investigate the role of maturation in the variation of NNS an NS pattern in preterm infants. Methods: The patented prototype is non-invasive, low-cost and easily applicable to clinical ecological practice, measures the pressure exerted on a pacifier in newborn’s mouth. Samples were acquired continuously during a 10-minute period in 12 preterm (mean gestational age [GA] 29.9 ± 1.6 weeks) and 4 term neonates (GA 39.5 ± 1.4 weeks). Bursts, suctions per burst, pauses, suction frequency and pressure were analyzed to describe temporal structure and dynamic characteristics of NNS. Results: The NNS pattern was characterized by bursts duration 4.3 ± 2.2 s, number of sucks per burst 7.4 ± 3.2, sucking frequency 2.1 ± 0.4 Hz and sucking pressure 10.3 ± 4.5 mmHg. There were significant differences between the preterm and term groups in NNS sucking frequency (2.1 Hz vs 1.6 Hz; p = 0.008). Conclusion: The device is non-invasive and can easily be used in clinical practice in low GA newborns, in an ecological environment. It allows the evaluation of NNS patterns maturation and, at the same time, the use of the device pacifier promotes NNS, which is important in the process of acquiring feeding autonomy in preterm infants.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Based on a collection of 2340 poems, the present article aims to explore the identity of musical instruments considered most popular by the printed Literatura de Cordel (Cordel Literature) in the countryside of Northeastern and Northern regions of Brazil, from the end of the 19th Century to present days. The Cordel Literature is known for representing the views of the social group from which it is originated rather than the creative work of its poets/writers. In search of musical instruments mentioned in the text, some of them were selected due to frequency and relevance of the context found: e.g. the Brazilian viola (a five course guitar), the violão (the six string guitar), the violin, the mandolin, the rabeca (Brazilian fiddle), the electric guitar and the piano. The violão and the Brazilian viola, which are similar in shape, are seen by that population in quite different ways. The fiddle is a popular instrument, but had only a few mentions. Other instruments like the violin, the mandolin, the piano and the electric guitar are described as urban instruments, thus less known in that context.O presente trabalho procura, em consulta a uma coleção de 2340 obras da Literatura de Cordel, explorar identidades culturais presentes nos instrumentos musicais aparentemente mais populares junto à população cultora de tal forma literária - sertão nordestino e parte da Região Norte do Brasil - desde o final do século XIX até o presente. A rabeca, instrumento popular, poucas vezes é citada.

Aims: acupuncture is increasingly a technique used in users with various pathologies, and especially those who are accompanied by chronic pain. This research aimed to analyze the effect of non-pharmacological acupuncture and electroacupuncture therapy for the control of chronic pain in users with medical diagnosis of irradiation vertebral syndrome. Methods: a research was conducted with two evaluation moments: before and after non-pharmacological acupuncture and electroacupuncture therapy sessions. A questionnaire with variables of sociodemographic and clinical characterization, the Brief Pain Inventory and Short Form 6 Dimensions (SF-6D) was used. Results: forty-three users participated in the study, and statistically significant differences were found from moment 1 to moment 2 of evaluation, either in the pain severity domain (p<0.01) or in the pain interference domain in daily functioning (p <0.01), as well as in the different dimensions of SF-6D, statistically significant differences were found. Conclusions: non-pharmacological acupuncture and electroacupuncture therapy in users diagnosed with irradiation and chronic pain have contributed to decrease pain severity, pain interference in daily functioning and improvement of health-related quality of life.

A construção da identidade de diretores: discurso oficial e prática Construction of the identity of principals: official discourse and practice

This study discusses the identity construction of school's principals in two approaches: the public discourse present in the documents and laws that define their "profile" and the discourse of directors to characterize their performance in the every day schools practices. The assumption of the study is that the identity of principals is the set of representations put into circulation by both the official discourse about the ways of being and acting school managers in performing their duties. One aspect of analysis relates to the contribution of bureaucratic and centralized structure, which permeates the social institutions in Brazil in the construction of official identity established for school principals. The discussion of identity construction of school principals has its importance in that it falls in expectations about the performance of the same in different historical moments

Characterisation of microbial attack on archaeological bone

    Get PDF
As part of an EU funded project to investigate the factors influencing bone preservation in the archaeological record, more than 250 bones from 41 archaeological sites in five countries spanning four climatic regions were studied for diagenetic alteration. Sites were selected to cover a range of environmental conditions and archaeological contexts. Microscopic and physical (mercury intrusion porosimetry) analyses of these bones revealed that the majority (68%) had suffered microbial attack. Furthermore, significant differences were found between animal and human bone in both the state of preservation and the type of microbial attack present. These differences in preservation might result from differences in early taphonomy of the bones. © 2003 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved
